Claire had to rub her eyes with the pads of her fingers for a moment, pinching the bridge of her nose, as though that'd wake her up, somehow. Whether or not it did, Claire wasn't sure, but nothing changed. She still heard the buzz of traffic in the background, still smelled asphalt and gasoline fumes, the latter of which she almost found comforting, to a point. Not that the urban setting was really one that Claire loved, but it was more in line with her idea of home and civilization than the island had ever been in the half a year she'd been there.
Her lungs filled with the air from the place (not like it was going to kill her, anyway), before Claire exhaled, slowly. A sigh. Looking at Coraline after.
"We're in New York," Claire explained, brow furrowed. "This is where I... where I was last, before getting to Tabula Rasa. I don't know why we're here. Cissie, Cissie King-Jones is here too, and she's also from the island and definitely not my world. But we're come back like, the day before I found myself on the island instead."
